The Central Depository and Settlement Corporation (CDSC) has transferred an additional 16 billion Safaricom PLC shares into the electronic system. These shares, previously held as physical certificates by Vodafone Limited, now raise the total of Safaricom shares in the Central Depository System (CDS) to 40 billion, equivalent to 100 percent of the company’s issued share capital. By moving these certificates into electronic form, the CDSC has removed the trading and transfer barriers associated with physical shareholdings. Slain teacher Albert Ojwang’ died from head injuries, neck compression and multiple soft tissue trauma, an autopsy revealed. Pathologists ruled out self-inflicted injuries caused the death. Ojwang was a teacher based in Voi. He was hit in the head and strangled, the postmortem report said. Further, he had multiple injuries in hands. A police officer died after collapsing in his toilet in Naitiri area, Kimilili, Bungoma County. Corporal Thomas Kiliswa had been moved to the area pending his retirement in a year. Police said one James Ndungu, 25 was found dead on the roadside after he was hit on the head by a falling gas cylinder on Monday afternoon.
