Bangladesh is ramping up payments to Adani Power after the Indian conglomerate cut electricity supplies by half, reportedly over an unpaid $800m bill. Two senior government officials told the BBC they are already processing partial payments to Adani, which supplies 10% of the electricity used by Bangladesh. “We have addressed payment glitches and already issued a $170 million [£143m] letter of credit to Adani group,” a senior Bangladesh Power Development Board official told the BBC. Kenyans will now have free access to the Uber app following a partnership between Uber and Safaricom to provide free mobile data to app users to enable easier downloads and usage. Safaricom has zero-rated the app to enable free use by drivers and delivery partners on the Uber and Uber Eats apps as well as riders, with Uber covering the cost. The Government has launched an ambitious climate action programme aimed at growing more than a million trees every month countrywide. The initiative to be spearheaded by all the 3,950 chiefs at locational level is part of the country’s effort to grow 15 billion trees by 2032 in line with President Ruto’s directive. Three people died on the spot after a truck veered and knocked people along the road in Kijauri, Nyamira County on Sunday night. Police said the Canter was ferrying goods from Gusii when its brakes failed down a steep at Kijauri. Three other people were injured in the incident. Starlink suspended new subscriptions to its internet services in Nairobi and surrounding areas following a network overload.  This is after a section of users in the greater Nairobi metropolitan area complained of the company failing to provide residential, business, and ROAM service plans. The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi announced the launch of American Corner Mtaani at the Kenya National Library Service, (KNLS).  This is the sixth addition to the growing network of American Corners in Kenya, joining established locations in Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa, and Lamu. A family is mourning after a woman accidentally hit and killed her two-year-old son while tilling a piece of land in Meru County. The accident happened in Kionyo location, Nkubu area on Saturday November 2, police said. The woman had gone with her son to a farm for a living when the incident happened. A mason died after he fell from the third floor of a building under construction in Nairobi’s Kasarani area. The incident happened on Saturday November 2 evening as Kennedy Oduor and other masons worked on the third floor of the structure in Seasons area. Detectives are looking for a gang of two that raided a private home and robbed a couple of their cash and jewelry in Nairobi’s Gigiri area. Police in South Africa have forced 540 illegal miners out of an abandoned mine shaft and arrested them. Earlier this week, security forces blocked deliveries of food and water to the miners in a bid to push them out of the mine. The miners experienced “starvation and dehydration” and were forced to resurface, police say. Individuals have been emerging from the mine, located in the northern town of Orkney, since Saturday, though hundreds are believed to remain in the shaft. Residents of Nairobi City will soon enjoy increased supply of clean drinking water as the Northern Collector Tunnel in Murang’a is near completion, President William Ruto has announced.
